Do you need voice over trainining?  Allow me to answer that question by sharing a little story…..

I LOVE to golf!  Unfortunately, I’m not that good at it.   But few things give me more pleasure than chasing that small white ball around 18 holes on a beautiful afternoon.  Most golfers will attest to the fact that the better your game, the more fun it is to play.  Which I think is interesting in light of the fact that it took me more years than I care to admit to seek the help I desperately needed for my ailing golf game.

I started playing golf when I was 14 and was instantly hooked….literally.  Practically every tee shot that I hit was either a “hook” or a “slice” meaning that it went in either direction of straight.  The 2 or 3 brilliant shots that I hit per round (if you do the math we’re talking about approximately 1% of my shots) kept me coming back for more with the illusion that if I just kept playing, I’d get better with every outing.

The old adage that “practice makes perfect” is not accurate.  The truth is “practice makes permanent.”  BIG difference.  For about 20 years I reinforced bad habits on the golf course until they were so permanently ingrained that I simply could not improve my game.  I was stuck in an endless cycle, unable to elevate my game to the next level.

There is a good ending to this story.  I finally (after 20 years of reading golf magazines and listening to the advice of my friends…none of which are teaching pros) took a short 20 minute lesson from a local teaching pro.  The most amazing thing happened.  On my next round I added 20 or 30 yards distance to my tee shots and trimmed a total of 12 strokes off my average score.  All from submitting myself to a little professional direction.

Are you beginning to see where I’m going with this?  The fastest path to success in any endeavor, voice overs included, is to find a competent coach and get some objective direction and advice.  It’ll take years off the learning curve and bring more joy to the game!
